i think what striked my initial interest was just that i was looking into donald glover as a person and i thought it was really fun and interesting how many different creative fields he'd worked in while also maintaining a general consensus that he's pretty good at all of it
overall his music isn't exactly for me (which is fine it doesn't need to be) but there's still a lot of it that i enjoy lots and in general i can just appreciate his artistry. i really like how he writes very straightforward lyrics without making it cringe ?? usually i think it's super tacky when artists just say stuff straight up but i think he writes pretty well despite not trying to be subtle about most things
i assume he self produces most of his songs since afaik he has done production work in the past and i think he does a really good job with it the instrumentals are quite lovely
my favorite album definitely has to be because the internet (2013) it's just right up my alley with its more melodic kind of cutesie and silly tracks plus i'm a sucker for albums with interludes and a very clear structure

some other notes/thoughts:
- awaken my love has some of the most beautiful instrumentals in its songs
- 3.15.20 is really fucking cool
- i like that every album feels like its own project and cohesive within itself idek
- hes incredibly talented its just really heart eyes i could do with a less "im fucking these bitches" sometimes but its not like thats all he has he talks about a lot of things in his music
- he has some really good collabs
- he also just has a nice voice!
